North Greenville captured the conference title in baseball for the first time since 1962. The Mountaineers clinched first place in the last game of the regular season defeating Spartanburg Methodist 6-3. This year’s team finished with a 30-15 record and was paced by all-region and all-conference catcher Montagnino.
Other all-conference members were Terry Spires, Harry Everett, Scott Barringer, and Mark Mauldin. Two members also had the honor of being selected in the Junior Major League draft. Russell Whittle was selected by Cleveland and Mike Montagnino by Montreal.
